By the age of 25, Sander Van Stee’s testosterone levels had dropped lower than what is normal for a 90-year-old. He became obsessed with health and longevity. He tried a vegan diet for years but continued to get more food sensitivities. After seeing many specialists and trying fasting, cold exposure, and improving his sleep, he still didn’t feel well. Sander knows what it means to be unwell and what it feels like to desperately want to get better. Sander realized that not only is the old adage “you are what you eat” true, but it’s also true that we are what our food ate.
As Sander was searching for health solutions, he started learning about regenerative agriculture and implementing the methodology. It took him 6 years to regain his health. Now Sander is married to a beautiful wife and is a proud dad to 4 boys. Sander is also proud to be shifting his commercial dairy farm to be more and more in alignment with regenerative agriculture.

Shari Bookstaff had fulfilled her lifelong childhood dreams and was a tenured marine biology professor near San Francisco. She was thriving in her career and her personal life when sporadic dizzy spells and nausea led to a diagnosed benign brain tumor. Even though this was a large tumor that had to removed immediately, it would be an “easy, routine surgery.” Then, the unthinkable happened. A 9-day hospital stay turned into 9 months of grueling rehabilitation. A stroke following the surgery took away Shari’s ability to breathe, eat, talk, hear and move. After several weeks in the hospital during which Shari was fed through a tube and breathed through machines, she was transferred to a rehabilitation center an hour away from her home. The only thing giving Shari the will to live was the love and devotion of her kids, then 12 and 8 years old. She has worked hard every day since to regain her dignity, her livelihood, and her spirit. Shari is living proof that determination, hard work, and positivity are the cornerstones to overcoming tragedy. Shari chronicles her medical journey in her book, “When Life Throws You Lemons…Make Cranberry Juice!”
The fundamental message in Shari’s book is to look for and accept positive entities into your heart, even amid raging lemons. These positive entities (“cranberries”) will enhance your ability to cope with lemons. Actions that make a difference have always been a cranberry for Shari. She took a leadership role in Expanding Your Horizons, a conference which exposes young girls to STEM fields and established a local chapter of a national whale and dolphin conservation organization, the American Cetacean Society. Following the inconsistent level of compassion and empathy she received from medical professionals after brain surgery, she founded the nonprofit Lifetime of Impact! to provide inspiration to healthcare students by presenting her story and offering tangible tips to improve their connection to patients. Shari later founded Impact of Empathy, leading workshops for companies that covet enhanced customer service skills, greater employee retention, and a cooperative workplace atmosphere. Special workshops for healthcare professionals reveal the secret sauce of patient engagement.

What are the “must haves” in improving, creating, and sustaining amazing health? Listen to this episode to hear Ian Clark describe getting more and more healthy as we age (rather than letting our health decline as we age).
In 2004 Ian Clark was bankrupt and given 1000 days to live. Five years later, he was still alive and had built a raw supplement business direct to consumer in his basement, which reached hundreds of thousands of people in just two years.
Ian is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Activation Products (Can) Inc. and has built a solid reputation for valuable research in the natural health space developing the most effective protocols and products that support natural healing.
At the age of 65, Ian’s health and energy levels are better than when he was 25. At the age of 46, two significant life-threatening health issues hit him in the same year! It was during 2004-2007 that as a husband and father of seven children, Ian sought out the most effective health products for natural healing to avoid medical operations and drugs. In 2007, Activation Products was founded with his wife and seven children. Over the last 16 years Ian has enjoyed a wonderful health transformation for himself, his family, and literally hundreds of thousands of Activation clients internationally. Ian now wants more people to know how to heal their own bodies.

Nancy Becher is a chronic illness warrior and disability advocate. She has a Masters in Counseling, a PhD in sociology, and in 2022 studied with the Ministry with Disabilities for a year towards certification.
It all started in 2014 – which started out as a great year for her until she was picking up her parents from a senior center potluck and one of the other attendees slammed into her with his car, knocking her out of her car and into a drainage ditch where she twisted her body back and forth.
Immediate surgery fixed (for a time) the physical injuries but also caused her to get Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, devastating nerve damage often called the suicide disorder. After 16 surgeries, two spinal stimulators, and innumerable doctors to figure out what was wrong to try and stop the pain, she has put her knowledge and experience to work and has created “Invisible Warriors”, a 501c3 non-profit to help others who are going through similar mental and physical anguishing journeys.
Through her experience, it’s become her passion to support others while making it her mission to dialogue with medical professionals and lobby for changes in the insurance, pharmaceutical, and travel industries so that women with hidden chronic and autoimmune disorders begin to feel that they are not alone; they are valued, and worthy participants in society.

Matt Harline has been an artist all his life, but after high school he took a 41 year detour in life as an electrical / computer hardware engineer. In 2016 his life was literally turned upside down while riding a bicycle resulting in a traumatic brain injury. This ended his career as an engineer, and launched him back to the path he had always dreamed of, creating works of art. In 2018 he lost his art studio to a wildfire in Northern California’s Butte County.
These moments, and others, have contributed to Matt’s desire to inspire others approach life with optimism, to embrace the things that they can do, stretch their limits. After another concussion in 2022, a benign brain tumor was found and surgically removed, followed by six and a half weeks of radiation treatment. During those treatments, Matt kept a journal of paintings to record his experience, which then became a book, “Radiation Road”.
Matt now spends his time drawing and painting, teaching a monthly watercolor journaling class, and regularly leading children on tours of the Crocker art museum in Sacramento, California. He is also on the board of directors for the Head Trauma Support Project of Sacramento, an organization that provides support group services for people with brain injuries.

As a former competitive golfer, Dr. Bryana Gregory was trained to work overtime. But in her early 20s she became very sick, and she spent days on end in bed in the fetal position because no doctor could find out what was wrong. Bryana used to be tired, overwhelmed, had too many responsibilities on her plate, and not enough time or energy to show up fully for any of them. She saw 10+ doctors for her symptoms. After lots of time, money, and pain, she wasn't getting any better. Conventional approaches were not helping, so she decided she needed something different. Bryana found a functional medicine practitioner used a comprehensive approach, taking the entire body into consideration. She soon started feeling better and never looked back. Bryana likes to remind people that our bodies function best when we’re in balance.
Bryana Gregory is a compounding pharmacist and genomics consultant specializing in genomics-guided wellness. She is certified in pharmacogenomics and trained in nutrigenomics testing and evaluation, helping you understand why your body responds the way it does to foods, vitamins, minerals, supplements, and medications, based on your DNA, so that you can make more informed decisions about your wellness. Bryana's specialties include bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, balancing the immune system, gut restoration, and providing approaches to wellness that are lasting, rather than following the conventional approach of a ""pill for every ill"". Bryana is on a mission to restore personalized medicine and to open up the conversation around genomics-guided wellness, while simplifying and personalizing your wellness journey.

Our Season 2 Finale Episode!
Michal had a long and painful journey with chronic illnesses. Doctors described her as a “mystery” and were unable to identify what was going on with her for years. Like so many, she had to fight for proper testing and even then she still felt that something was missing.
Eventually, she found out that she had autoimmune and genetic disorders and began her journey of “managing” her symptoms through diet, lifestyle, and other holistic methods. In order to feel even remotely normal, she could eat very few foods, take many supplements every day, and avoid all of her triggers.
What did this look like for her? It meant living with a water purifier, air purifier, all non-toxic products, and holding her breath when exposed to scents or perfumes. She required weekly chiropractic and massage appointments. She had tons of products, modalities, and methods for symptom management. It took years before Michal realized that this obviously meant she was still UNHEALTHY!
Healthy people don’t have to do all this to manage symptoms. Alongside a trusted mentor, and through her own journey from bedridden with autoimmune, genetic, and environmental illnesses to fully healthy (with no need for restrictive diets, supplements or ongoing therapies!), Michal developed a passion for teaching others to do the same.
With over 14 years of personal experience, Michal leads a team of functional medicine and holistic practitioners that believe in finding and addressing the root cause of the problem, rather than providing band-aid approaches and protocols. Using a breakthrough approach centered around nervous system regulation, Chronic Illness Solution specializes in helping those with autoimmune, genetic, and pain disorders.
Michal is now an international speaker and trains other practitioners in various healing modalities.
