Born in Bulgaria, Maria was a champion at everything she tried - gymnastics, make-up, classical guitar, and she already spoke 4 languages. At the age of 12, however, she became isolated, depressed and felt alone. By age 19, she wanted to commit suicide.
She started studying psychology to try to heal herself. During her journey, she moved to Sweden to follow a man who fell in love with her. She started studying how to find the light within herself. She spent many years at this, finally accepting the darkness within herself which gave her access to the light.

I had a friend who told me she had a heart attack because she sneezed. This friend was in her 60's. When Kisha told me that she had a heart attack at 31, I couldn't believe it. She was healthy, athletic, and in the prime of her life.
Both heart attacks were due to SCAD, which some doctors have never heard of. Both people had a tear in the lining of their arteries. Both could have been fatal. This is not something that can necessarily be detected, but the signs can alert you to get help. Kisha's story is incredible. Not only did she survive her heart attack, but she went back to get her nursing degree. She through herself into her career and then had another wake up call. Rachel Barwell used to call herself "clumsy" as a child. Little did she know that she suffered from something called dyspraxia. She only found out later in life that this is something that be helped with specialized learning methods.
Rachel started her career as an adult educator in corporate, prisons and indigenous environments where she learned that a large percentage of people who struggled with learning had dyslexia or other learning differences. She began to specialize in this and is making a huge difference for people who never thought they would be able to read.
Imagine being a 69 year old successful politician who hid her dyslexia until Rachel taught her how to read. Imagine children who no longer drop out of school and end up in the prison system because they have learned to read.
Rachel, as a Davis methods facilitator, is changing the lives of people she works with. Her work has now spread to Kenya. Rachel is also involved with the Innovuntu project which is collaborating to make Zambia a thriving country.

"There's nothing you can't do," is Linda's motto. At 77, she is getting ready to publish her third book. And she is modest. She won't brag about how she saved a man's life, sat with a dying young boy, started a singing group that sang to the soldiers going off to war, and had a few near death experiences.
They are just part of her story. It's just normal for her. At 13 she started a daycare in her neighborhood. And 64 years later she is still writing, starting businesses, and helping other people.

Linda was born in Manhattan, New York. She spent her childhood growing up in Brooklyn, New York. She is a 77 year old new author, two books published on Amazon,”A Certain Remembrance” and “ Lockdown- A pandemic experience and tribute to nurses during the COVID-19 war.” She is an entrepreneur, started two businesses; a catering company, and an interior design business, while bringing up her children on her own. She also worked at a hospital for 20 years where she met her current husand, Rich.
She retired and moved to upstate, New York. She is now writing her third book, entitled “Imagination”, a compilation of her short stories and poems which should be published this summer on Amazon.
Growing up, helping others, dealing with obstacles in her path, had her mature quickly, and gave her the strength to deal with her mom‘s death when she was 17 years old.

Caregiving found Ivory as a kid when she started taking care of her mother. Then later in life, after she lost her job as a legal secretary because of carpel tunnel, she was asked, "Would you please take care of my mother until I find a professional caregiver?"

Lynnie's mother and aunt are artists. Lynnie gravitated towards art throughout her life, but didn't think she was allowed to be an artist. Her father did not think it was a practical career.. Lynnie studied journalism, advertising and then social work instead.

Lynnie Sterba creates paintings as reflections of her passion involving her inner spiritual and objective analysis of the subject. Her thoughts and feelings transcend the ordinary as she restructures nature’s many moods. What is particularly important is the healing nature of her work. Sterba starts every painting by writing the word “love” on the canvas. This process grounds her and endows her work with the inspiration she hopes clients can bring into their own lives. Sterba adapted her calligraphy from the way Zen painters work with line. The bold brush marks and color are influenced by the pure self- expression of the Fauve painters. Fluidity of paint, movement, texture, and design are inspired by the Abstract painters, most notably, Joan Mitchell. Sterba’s work has been featured in art galleries as well as art museums including Los Angeles County Museum of Art Sales and Rental Gallery and the Long Beach Museum of Art Biennial Art Auctions.

Separated from her family at age 3, Teresa learned a valuable lesson from her grandmother. As a Cuban refugee whose father had lost everything overnight, Teresa, her parents, and her 3 other siblings fled to America. Teresa was given a doll by her grandmother and told to "tell her your story." During that frightening time, she learned the power of story.
